Yummy!!! I'm enjoying one right now and it's awesome. I do like my Cosmo's a bit more sour so the pomegranate and lemon combo is just perfect. I used just plain top shelf vodka, otherwise followed recipe exactly. I will definitely be making this one again!-25 Jun 2008

Very tart and tasty - made an oversized batch to take to a Halloween party (I was dressed as a martini, and drank this out of a huge martini glass) - certainly did the trick! I used triple sec in place of cointreau.-31 Oct 2009

Pomegranate Cosmopolitan Recipe

We shake a cocktail when the ingredients are of different weights. Mixers like citrus juices are heavier than liquor, and need to be shaken in order to emulsify, aerate, and bruise the cocktail. A good rule of thumb: only shake a drink that uses juice, egg, or cream in its recipe. Experiment with this version of a Cosmopolitan for a delicious shaken cocktail.

This recipe makes 4 cocktails, so enough to share with friends or your loved one.

How To Make Our New Favorite Tequila Cocktail

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice, then pour in all ingredients. Secure the lid on top, then shake vigorously for 15 – 20 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is frosty.
  2. Strain and pour cocktail into a coupe glass. Enjoy!

It’s a pretty straightforward shaken cocktail (which is my favorite, I’m sure you’ve noticed).

This is my cocktail shaker, which I’ve used and loved for years. Highly recommend.

Stanley Tucci taught his fans how to make a ɼhristmas cosmo' cocktail with the help of John Krasinski and Emily Blunt

Stanley Tucci has yet again proven his (unofficial) title as the celebrity mixology master of 2020.

This year, the "Julie & Julia" actor and cookbook author has become a quarantine hero of sorts as he's taken to Instagram to show off his cocktail expertise in the form of delightfully produced home videos often set to instrumental music.

His cocktail-making skills became well-known in April after he taught fans how to make his version of a Negroni, and he's since offered his spin on other classic drinks, like the Old Fashioned and margarita.

Ahead of Christmas, Tucci shared a tutorial for what he called a "Christmas cosmo" — a spin on the vodka-and-cranberry drink.

A post shared by Stanley Tucci (@stanleytucci)

To start, Tucci used a wooden tool to mash 3 tablespoons of pomegranate seeds in a cocktail shaker.

He then added 25 milliliters (about one-half of a standard shot in the US) of Cointreau, or orange liquor cranberry juice, and pomegranate juice, respectively and 50 milliliters (about one and a half shots in the US) of vodka.

Tucci added a handful of ice to the shaker and mixed the drink together, then added a festive rim to his cocktail glass by lining the top with water and dipping it in a plate with sugar. As a garnish, Tucci added a sprig of rosemary, one mint leaf, and a raspberry on a toothpick.

Before taking a sip, the actor said he had one last finishing touch for the drink.

"Wait, I have these helpers here who have been working on the garnishes for a while," Tucci told his wife, Felicity Blunt, who was behind the camera.

The camera panned to show Emily Blunt (Tucci's sister-and-law and former "The Devil Wears Prada" co-star), and her husband, John Krasinski, who was jokingly eating seeds from a pomegranate — which were, apparently, supposed to be a final decorative touch for the beverage.

"Garnish?" Krasinski asked Tucci.

"I told him that was supposed to be the garnish," Emily Blunt said. "Well, it would've looked nice in the cocktail."

Finally, Tucci and his family toasted with their cranberry-colored drinks, and the actor and mixology expert told fans to "stay safe and enjoy."

  • 2 ¼ cups pomegranate juice
  • 2 ¼ cups vodka
  • 1 cup lime juice
  • 3/4 cup Cointreau, or Grand Marnier
  • 1/4 cup ginger juice, (see Note)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar, preferably superfine &#8220bar sugar,&#8221 plus more for the rims
  • Strips of lime zest, for garnish

Mix pomegranate juice, vodka, lime juice, Cointreau (or Grand Marnier), ginger juice and sugar in a large pitcher.

For each drink, fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice, add 1/2 cup Cosmo mix, and shake until the shaker turns frosty and cold. Dip the rim of a martini (or highball) glass into water and then in sugar (to "sugar the rim"). Strain the drink into the martini glass (or over fresh ice in the highball glass). Garnish with a twist of lime zest, if desired.

A Delicious Update to the Cosmo

A traditional Cosmo is composed of vodka, lime juice, Cointreau, and cranberry juice. This blueberry and pomegranate version is smoother and juicier, but just as enjoyable!

Blueberry and pomegranate make a really lovely flavor combination. Both fruits have sweet-tart dimensions that complement each other nicely. Here, that ripe, juicy berry flavor brings a new angle to the classic Cosmo, while honoring the spirit of the original.

What’s In A Cosmopolitan

There are only 4 ingredients in a Cosmopolitan recipe.

  • Vodka: Use good quality vodka. This may be a pink drink but it’s definitely not a girly drink. Having good quality vodka is a must!
  • Triple Sec: Triple sec is a sweet, colorless, citrus flavored liquor.
  • Cranberry Juiceor Cranberry Juice Cocktail: If you’d like to add a little sweetness to your drink, use cranberry juice cocktail. Cranberry juice will add tartness and color, but very little sweetness.
  • Lime Juice: Fresh lime juice is a must! Nothing from a bottle can compare to the taste of fresh lime juice.
  • Garnish: Lime or orange peel.

combine ingrediants in a large pitcher. Fill a cocktail shaker half full with ice, pour the cocktal mix in, and shake for a full 30 seconds. Pour into martini glasses, garnish with a slice of lime and serve immediately. You can make the mix a day or two early and refrigerate it.
