It is believed that biscuit salami appeared on the island of Sicily in Italy. In Greece, chocolate salami is called mosaiko or kormos. In Turkey it is called mosaic pasta (mosaic cake). In Romania it is called biscuit salami and may have originated in the 1970s or 1980s in the communist era, possibly due to food shortages.

In Uruguay it is called salchichón de chocolate (chocolate sausage), and in Portugal it is called salami de chocolate (chocolate salami). In Italy, it is also called salami al cioccolato (chocolate salami) or, especially in Sicily, Turkish salami (Turkish salami).

In Lithuania, a similar dessert is called tinginys (Lithuanian: lazy), which is made from cocoa, broken biscuits, condensed milk and butter, and sometimes nuts.

Ingredient:

  • 500 grams of regular biscuits (I used school biscuits)
  • 400 grams of shit
  • 300 grams of nuts
  • two tablespoons of plum jam
  • 100 grams of raisins
  • 200 grams of rum for macerating raisins (* if children eat and replaced with water)
  • 150 ml of water
  • 150 grams of sugar
  • 25 grams of cocoa
  • the teaspoon of rum essence

Method of preparation:

Put the raisins soaked in rum or just water an hour before you get ready. Crush the biscuits on a board with a rolling pin so that they remain pieces the size of a corn kernel. Divide the amount of nuts in half. Grind half and coarsely cut the other half. You will fry the last quantity in the oven for 10 minutes at 200 degrees.

Cut the shit into small pieces and mix it with the previously cut and fried walnuts, so that the pieces of shit do not stick together. Put the sugar and water in a bowl of almost three liters and leave it on the fire, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves and a syrup forms.

Take the pot off the heat, add the raisins, rum, plum jam or any kind of jam, mix, then put the biscuits previously combined with the shit and walnuts. Add sifted cocoa and mix with a spoon, by inverting, or even with your hands. Finally, divide the composition into three, then spread a piece of food foil about 30 centimeters long on the worktop. Put on it, using a spoon, a third of the composition.

Cover it with half a foil, then shape it to form a cylinder, taking care not to leave gaps, but also not to press too hard. Squeeze the ends so you can seal the salami in the foil wrapper. Do the same with the other two thirds of the composition, thus obtaining three bars of biscuit salami with shit and walnut.

500 grams of simple biscuits
500 grams of shit
100 grams of coconut butter(you can buy here)
250 grams of chopped walnuts
two tablespoons of cocoa
200 ml water
two teaspoons of rum essence

For biscuits, I used the popular ones, but any harder biscuits work, so that they don't lose their shape when we pour hot cocoa milk over them. Also according to your preference, you can increase the amount of liquid and you will get a creamier biscuit salami. I like the biscuit salami a bit denser, but it's just a matter of personal taste. If you want, you can grind the biscuits even finer, but not powdered anyway. They must have a little texture so that the salami is not like a paste. I really like to see the white of the biscuits contrasting with the chocolate sauce, but everything remains at your discretion.

This sausage biscuits it is left to stand overnight to combine the flavors very well and the salami to be tasty and aromatic. Wrap in plastic wrap to take the shape of a salami and place in the refrigerator. It is enough to stay overnight, but it lasts a week without a problem. Fasting biscuit salami

Because we feel the need to eat something sweet, I thought I would share with you the following recipe, which is made quite quickly and is not so expensive.

For the preparation we need the following ingredients:

- 500 gr. popular biscuits (simple)
- 200 gr of sugar
- A few pieces of shit
- 100 gr. walnut (ground, or finely chopped) as desired
- 2 sachets of vanilla sugar
- rum essence or even rum if we have it in the house
- 50 gr. raisins
- 2-3 tablespoons of cocoa
- 1 packet of Rama margarine

Take biscuits and crumble, rub with a packet of margarine and cocoa. Add vanilla sugar, rum essence, raisins, diced shit and walnuts.

Separately, caramelize the sugar and add 150 ml. bring the water to a boil until the sugar is completely dissolved, set aside and leave to cool a little. After that, the syrup obtained is mixed with the other ingredients to obtain a crust that is easy to shape. The shell thus obtained is spread on an aluminum foil or food foil, we roll it carefully giving it the shape of a salami. Let it cool for 2-3 hours and then it can be served.


Break the biscuits by hand and leave them in a bowl, and add the shit cut into pieces. Take the nuts, grind half of them, and grind the other half with a knife, then add over the biscuits and shit and mix well.

Separately mix the water with the cocoa, and then melt the margarine. Stir further, and after the composition boils, remove from the heat and leave to cool.

Add the cocoa composition over the mixture of biscuits, shit and nuts, but also the rum essence and mix carefully so that the biscuits soften and do not crumble.

The composition is placed in food foil on a single line and rolled tightly to obtain a uniform result. Place on a tray and leave to cool. It can be served the next day or after at least 4 hours, as soon as the foil is removed and coconut is added on top. You can "roll" the salami biscuit bars in coconut, and for serving, be sure to wipe the knife to get nice cuts. We recommend that you drink it with a cup of coffee and let the flavors mix. After all, it's about your pampering and taste buds, isn't it?

  8. Divide the composition into three and then spread a piece of food foil about 30 cm long on the work table and place a third of the composition on it, using a spoon.
  9. Cover the composition with half a foil and then shape it to form a cylinder, taking care not to leave gaps but not to press too hard. We will gather the heads so that we can seal the salami in the food foil coating.
  10. We do the same with the other two thirds of the composition, thus obtaining three "bars" of biscuit salami with shit.
  11. Let cool for a few hours, either in the refrigerator or in a cool room.
  12. When we want to serve it, we unwrap it from the foil that protects it and cut it into slices of about 1 cm.
